Hey Mike, if you take Bunce's pass out(Ft. Desoto Ramp towards gulf), you can beach on the right hand side(North side of the pass)...It's technically the south end of Shell Key, but it's a lot rougher than the other side. I don't like beaching there unless it's REALLY calm out. But it's much nicer and less crowded...The water is still a little chilly for me...I have a lot to do this weekend, but if I get an early start tonight and in the morning, I'll make it out!

When you guys beach your boat in water with a tide don't you have to woory about the tide going out and leaveing you boat high and dry?? Or un beach it's self??

I know that it would take a while, but I've seen the water level change pretty quick... haven't I???

Yep, you do have to keep an eye on the tide. Usually, it'e enough to check and adjust every hour or so. I never power beach, just gently pull the boat up by hand. I usually only have to nudge the boat a few inches every once in a while to keep her floating.

I've seen plenty of times though where people would get drunk and forget about their boats and be left stranded clear out of the water. You can only laugh...

Nick I was talking about the island south of Desoto park, where the fort is. I usually park on the west side of the Island and swim in, is there a better place to get in there????

That's Egmont Key.

We all met on the northeast corner last year when Active Thunder Todd and Consintracy were down. Pic taken by Nick.
