I went into a dive shop 5 years ago and asked how much it would cost to buy all the equipment I need, was told about 1500.00. 3500.00 later I was all fitted out with some real good Subapro equipment which I still have (Don't go cheap it's your life).

All I can say - in a training manual that I used there was this quote
"I have slipped the surly bond of earth reached out and touched the face of God"
To be weightless and see all the beauty that is underwater is breath taking- Last year in Cayman I was on a dive that I literally wanted to suck the tank dry. The water was very warm, had my buoyancy perfect, no current, visibility well over 100' and the marine life was all around me.
You can't put it into words.
Now fresh water is a little different - not far from Batavia- Lamont query (little Lamont) was neat -- lots of fish around and good visibility for fresh water.
DO IT
just do it the right way

Well Dave? did you do it?
If not get-r-done, I wish I wouldn't have waited so long in life to get certified, cozumel drift diving is quite possibly one of the best, and Devil's Throat at palancar will keep you on your toes, I have been to the Red Sea as well off of Sharm el Sheikh, (during the Arab Spring no less) and that was awesome too! Can't wait to get down to Florida and make regular diving part of my life!
