WOW, that is a grea price!
I have a 176c. I don't have any problems reading it in bright sunlight. I have mine mounted on top of the dash with the power/data cable running down through a hole in the top of my dash. Then I have the data cable connected to my GPS speedo. It works great. I can push a little lever, unhook the cable and remove from the dash when I dock the boat somewhere. I have no trouble reading it while underway.

I have been looking for a GPS as well, and found a unit on E-Bay called a FX-324. I'm not sure of the Brand, I think the Pic. says Magellan, but its hard to see on my Screen. E-Bay item#3089501900,, its priced right at 385.00 New in Box,, and seems to have all the Features I'm looking for,,, but like Buck sd., I've never had one and don't know Squat about them!! Maybe one of you Experts could check it out for me, and give me your thoughts. I dont know how to post a link to it ,,,Sorry!! When I see its Price as compared to the others, its very tempting!!!!
