We have gotten pulled over, cop said over 20 calls about us in the last half hour. But no tickets :)

I contacted Andy Buzz about the laser jammers he carries. He gave me a GREAT quote on the Escort ZR3 (by far the lowest $ I've seen on that model), he's also a nice guy to talk to and I highly recommend him if your in the market for anything like this. Despite the wonderful price he quoted he on the Escort, I ended up ordered the Bel Laserpro 904 online. As I stated earlier, my research suggests the Bel is the same or close to equal compared to the Escort, but because it's now discontinued it's being sold about $100+ cheaper than the even the super low price Andy was able to give me on the ZR3. I'll let everyone know how it works out in a couple of weeks.

Andy... thanks again for your time.

Lasar jammer update,

I ordered that Bel Laserpro 904 last Thursday @ 4:30 pm. It arrived via UPS ground on Friday morning @ 10:20 am... now that's quick service! Anyway, I did the install yesterday. It took me about 4 hours, but I took my time and did a very nice and clean install. The way I mounted the front transponders, there's no way anyone (cops included) would never see them up front. I recessed them into the from grill (see pic below) so they can hardly be seen. The rear transponder mounts on your rear plate and is hardly noticeable unless you know what you're looking for. I don't know if the cops are knowledgeable about them or not, but if so, a keen eyed cop would notice the rear transponder attached to the plate if or when calling in your tag number from close range. I think I'm going to find a black plate frame to better disguise the transponder. I mounted the tiny system controller on the side of the tunnel just below the shifter. I mounted it there so it would be out of sight if I get pulled over yet it's very easy for me to see, hear , and get to the disarm button.

I called a cop friend of mine after the install to see if he could "test" the system for me. As luck would have it he was on duty. I meet him at the donut shop ( :D) and then headed down to a nice long straight road. He was quite skeptical and thought I had wasted my money.. untill he pulled out the laser gun! From the front he was shocked to find my car was completely invisable untill I was right on top of him (about 50' -75'). He aimed at multiple spots on the front of my car and wasn't able to get a lock on anything. We did this five times. From the rear he was able to get me only one out of four attemps and the one time he did get a reading from my car I was only about 75' from him. We were both very impressed to see the least.

While I know this jammer is not 100% effective at jamming all laser guns at all ranges (but it's close!), and radar is still used more than laser, I have to tell you I FEEL much more comfortable cruising at 85 mph on the highway than I did last week. The CT troopers love to sit on the highway and shoot laser. Like I said earlier, it's the laser guns that scare me since you have no time to react w/o a jammer. My old Bel 745i radar detector my not be the latest and greatest, but it has always given me plenty of notice when the "smokey's" are shooting radar up ahead.

Below are a couple of quick photos of the jammer installed. Hopefully you don't see much. ;)

Thanks for sharing with us ! It's good to see real tests , unlike in the adds !;) How much is a system like that ? And does it jam al types of radar ? Thanks, and good luck with it ! Joe

Joe,

I'd posted just to let others know these things do work. As I mentioned above the system I bought has been discontinued (see details above), but it's still available readily online. I paid $240 shipped. Keep in mind the manufacture highly recommends professional installation and that can get expensive. If your are at all handy (and I know you are) you can do the install in a couple of hours... it all depends how creative you need to get to install the front transponders, run the wiring, and how custom you want to be with the controller install. I think the biggest reason they recommend the professional installation is because it's critical that the transponders are mounted parallel to the road and they can be tough to properly mount in some vehicles. The system works on all current laser guns, but offers no protection against radar (radar jammers are illegal). The effectiveness of the laser jammer has a lot of variables (proper mounting and location of transponders, vehicle type, color... again see above), and all laser jammers will work a little better against some model laser guns than others. From what I've seen so far it's money very well spent for anyone who speeds/drives a lot in laser gun country. I can tell you from first hand experience that they do work if installed properly.

If you have any other questions feel free to contact me.

Very worthwhile information. It's great to see a first hand test back up what you read. Sounds like VERY well spent money.

I need one.

Only 96mph? Must have been a school zone.

Now, a detector is great if you are going 80 because you canbleed off 15 mph quick. What about when you are at 100+? Any type of jammer out there that works good? Ordering that laser jammer when I have the $.
