Re: Are you towing with the proper equipment?

BYC- FWIW, my Dodge is rated to tow 16,300, I'm betting Ford and Chevy will be upping theirs soon too.

Also, I put a lot of towing miles on with my 8500lb race trailer, about 20k a yr give or take. I just put an Equalizer brand weight dist hitch on and have towed with it now for 5k miles- hard for me to believe how much difference it made. It's a little pricier but by design has two built in sway bars that really work and it's designed to work with surge tongues as the levers slide on some shelfs rather than connect with a chain.

I also upgraded from a US Gear std exhaust brake to their "Superduty" model. It's way nicer, builds full braking pressure at lower R's intead of having to buzz the engine/find the right gear to get the effect. Just sharing my experience in an effort to help my trailer bro's.

5500 pound boat with a 1994 GMC half ton with a 305.
Milwaukee to Toledo.

Two Saturdays before Christmas, through Chicago.

Ask me about the SkyWay Bridge.

I know that it was very, very wrong.
But i went slow and didn't even break the truck.
