Does anyone have pics of where and how they permanently marked their USCG documentation numbers inside the hull?

Are you talking about the hidden secondary HIN numbers that the manufacturer is supposed to stamp somewhere inside the hull, inconspicuously?

If that's not what you are talking about, then please ignore the following:

This requirement was put in force to aid in identifying a boat that has been stolen and recovered. The manufacturers are not supposed to reveal where these numbers are hidden, as that would destroy the benefit of these secret numbers. So you should not be able to see these numbers at all.

For shoebox-type production, the Coast Guard recommends to Mfg's put them somewhere under the lip of the hull/deck joint, before the hull and deck are put together, so one would have to pull that deck piece off to see it.

Boats manufactured or imported on or after August 1, 1984, also have a duplicate secondary HIN affixed somewhere on an unexposed location inside the boat or beneath a fitting or item of hardware. The purpose is to help authorities identify your boat if a thief or vandals remove or damage the primary HIN on the transom. It is illegal for anyone (manufacturer, dealer, distributor, or owner) to alter or remove a HIN without the express written authorization of the Commandant, U.S. Coast Guard

If you ar referring to the "Federal registration or #Documentation Number" of the vessel?

On any side of the engine compartment take some 3-4 inch high pressure sensitive adhesive coated vinyl block letters/numerals of you Documentation #.

Apply to any wall of your engine compartment. Then overspray with a clear varnish. If the lettering is removed an outline of the letters will still be evident. That will satisfy that requirement.

I had mine engraved in a plack and used liquid nails to attach to side of engine compartment.

I had our #'s milled into a piece of billet, and it will be painted to match the battery covers. After paint I am going to attach to the boat in the bilge.

I have had the boat for 2 years and still have not been checked fo #'s yet. I need to get off my ass and get it done.

I guess Im going to jail I had to move my HIN over a 4 inches to get the new tips on.

I don't now if you found your answer yet, if not...
I have my coastgaurd number on the inside of my engine compartment on the starboard side. Check the size, they specify a certain size. It also needs to be proceeded NO (number)
