One other thing. If your past 50K miles there is a good chance your non-greasable ball joints are shot. That can also cause intermitant handling issues. Replace them with aftermarket greasable ones. I was lucky that a friend who owns an F550 advised me of this right off. We drilled and threaded in self tapping zerk fitting into the stock ball joints. At 100K + they are stilll good.

I had a similar problem with my excursion, did some digging at the Ford service and Ford had a problem with the pads not releasing off the rotors so there is a new spring to do so. Also there is a new brake pad that ford came out with for the bigger trucks, supposed to last longer and better stopping power.
