My neighbor fell off her balcony

This is really sad, but I just found that the girl who lives right across the hall from me fell off her 12th floor balcony. Thank god I didnt see it, but I heard it was pretty disturbing. Here's a link. Man, what a tragedy.

Josh: H2O Performance

Josh - we can't see the story because we're not members of the Herald.

I'm really sorry about your loss. Things like this (which sometimes seem senseless and preventable) are difficult to deal with. You'll be in our thoughts.

Hey thanks, but theres no need to feel sorry for me. I didnt even know her. I just think its really sad. Heres the story:

Prosecutor falls to her death from South Beach apartment balcony

A Miami-Dade County prosecutor fell to her death Thursday night from a 12th-floor balcony of her South Beach apartment, police said.

Assistant State Attorney Loren Letner, 28, had just been promoted to a division chief in the juvenile section.

She was apparently sitting on the rail of the balcony at 1500 Bay Rd., unit 1202, when she lost her balance, Miami Beach Police spokesman Bobby Hernandez said. She was dead when paramedics arrived.

''Apparently she sat on this balcony all the time,'' Hernandez said. ``We have an independent witness who said he saw her lose her balance and fall.''

Originally from Missouri, Letner grew up in Arkansas and attended Arkansas State University. She got her law degree from Tulane University in 2001 and joined the prosecutor's office two and a half years ago, said state attorney's spokesman Ed Griffith.

''She had just won a trial involving a career criminal and been promoted,'' Griffith said. ``She was ecstatic overall. That only adds to the tragedy.''

very sad, hope it was only an accident. I apologize if that comes across harsh but given her career status one never knows.:(

Sorry to hear that. Only 28 and a promising career too. :(

I know what it's like to lose a neighbor.
Our next door neighbor, whom we've known for 15 years, suddenly died during emergency heart surgery to repair an aneurysm and a leaking heart valve.
Three days before he passed we were laughing at some silly antics our grand kids were doing. :(

Why the heck would you sit on a rail on the 12th story? Sad....but stupid thing to do.

BonnieOutlaw 05-04-2004 02:33 PM

Awww Iggy! Ya had to go and say that this week didn't you. :( :p

Phantom...I was thinking the same thing, but then again I'm afraid of heights. I'm thinking a nice little lawn chair would have helped.
