Home sick today. Watching the History Channel. Some might have seen this boat before. Looks pretty cool though.

What boat is it? I have a friend who insists navy aircraft carriers do 120 mph. Says that they dont advertise it, because it is classified I tried to explain to him the power that would be necessary.....even if they lined up all the planes on the back and turned their engines on, it wouldnt come close......he was pretty insistant, so i gave up and ordered another beer...yep, typical barroom conversation.

Hope you feel less foul, foul......

This is proably their 80' fast attack boat. Pretty neat clips, although it sure doesn't look 80' long. I wish I could adapt the joy stick controls though! That would be cool.

If I go to this boat hull calculator:

http://www.anyboat.com/hull.htm

and put in 600 feet ( I'll assume a carrier is two football field lengths ??? ) then the max speed under normal conditions is 33 knots. I'm sure the Navy has tweeked this a little higher, but over 100 is physically impossble with a displacement hull.

He must have been refering to the ''stepped'' model.

Fountain building aircraft carriers now? Bet they spin out when they have to head into the wind to launch! LOL!

That calculator is a little messed up..."The length of the boat is 25 feet. The maximum hull speed is 7 knots (rounded to the nearest integer) or 6.75 exactly!"

Anyway, today's fastest aircraft carrier can do a max of approximately 33.6 knots.

120 is absolutely ludicrous.
