Having a 1995 288 Sunsation, I can definitely say that they build a great boat. I run a 650hp blower motor and get 82mph on all types of water. Have never had a problem, at least nothing major, and the Sunsation "family" will take care of you. That's my .02

Although I have never been in a Superboat, just didn't seem to be for me, too spartan.

Fasterdamitt,

I see you are from Palm Springs. Where will you boat; the River, the Pacific or both? Any of the boats discussed above will handle the worst Havasu/Mead/Powell/Mojave can dish out. The Pacific is a different animal. Consider where and what you will be doing with the boat, that may help you with the amenities and performance discussion. I have experienced every body of water I mentioned with a Sunsation and would be happy to answer questions you have.

Chris, Email me info on your Active.

Quality Time , I will boat at Lake Havasu 80% and offshore Newport 20%. The thing is, in my cat I had to slow down in over 2-3' rs on Havasu. I want a boat that will handle the big stuff at 90mph.

No, no... The choice is a Yugo or a Fiat. Just kidding

I agree with many who have already chosen Sunsation. It is one of their best model boats based on what I've seen. I don't know too much about Superboat but the rumor is that they are also very good.

Big stuff at 90? I would consider a larger boat. It will take some considerable hp to get in to the 90 mph range on a single drive v-hull as well an outdrive that can handle it IMHO. As suggested, take a ride in both and good luck, this is the fun part.

Quality,
I guess everybody has a different view of ruff. In Havasu I could run My A/O cat in 3 footers in 80's sometimes 90's. It required alot of driver effert to keep it in the water running flat but that's what performance boating is all about to me. I know most of my buddies did'nt like to drive that hard. That's why I think I should drive a Superboat. I think it's one of the few boats that will run through the Havasu ruff for it's size range. (my budget). I'm sure there are others out there( Pantera, Sutphen ect.) But the Y2k and Sunsation are the two I like at this point for thier newer styling.
Thanks

Having run the Y2k(Fast Eddie's) in a race in the OPA Pt. Pleasant 2 years ago and then testing it again this past September in Ft Lauderdale the day before the APBA National Race held there I would go hands down with the Superboat. Give John a call and order one up. You will not be disappointed.
