My Memorial day speech:

In a day and age in which so many people are motivated by greed, it was particularly moving to learn about Tillman, the choices he made, and the reasons he made them.

Finding out that he was hit by friendly fire doesn't change the things about the story that moved me. It just underscores just how dangerous this type of warfare is, and how easy it is to get caught between a rock and a hard place when all hell is actually breaking loose. These kind of firefights are a nightmare.
I'm glad that they are working on new tech to help our soldiers identify each other on the ground (not just aircraft) so that there will be less of these tragedies as time goes by. In the meantime, I thank God that men like Tillman still come along once in a while.
