Patti gave you good advice how to practice close quarter maneuvers with it. That's exactly what I did when I bought the surface drive powered boat.

As far as tabs, I don't know about in the Gladiator, but on my boat, the best thing to do is put them up and leave them up! My boat will turn sharply with just a little tab. It may be due to lack of rudder surface in the water with the surface drives.

Surface drives as opposed to what?

How many different drive types are there?

For the love of the sport as well as OSO, please have all events on movies and or still photos for objective evidence of what we all pray for....

An extremely successful series of events...

As opposed to conventional drives, ie, Bravo's.

Here's what surface drives look like (Kamma's), now go look at the drives on the Glad (Bravo's).

yikes! you may be paying for that picture! i have a couple of those too. KWB was towing him on that occasion. one thing that i'm sure JC has already told you, is to do it "slowly". that applies more to docking and such, but when you do things slowly, you have a better chance of recovery, etc. trying to do things to quickly gets you all jammed up and can cause a panic situation....which is when things frequently go bad quickly. when you are away from everyone, try the other functions at idle. things like neutral, forward, neutral, reverse. then of course, one forward, one in reverse to make yourself spin around and do it both directions. that may be a good place to start, not just out running.

have JC show you where "level" is on the tab indicators and know the "sweet spot". too little tab will make you run too loose and be bow light (not enough control). to much burries the nose and part the red sea sort of thing. it just depends on the conditions whenever you are out. then make sure you come off the sticks enough when you come off the water so you don't zing the drives. watch your tacks at that point so they stay consistent and don't move. you can't zing a bravo too many times with out busting it.

did nortie take you out and teach you yet?

good luck sweetie
