Default Tim's Rivershore needs help!!!

http://www.timsrivershore.com/

This restaurant is one of our favorite gathering places on the Potomac River. They have great food and are the organizers of many events like Poker Runs, Fireworks the weekend before the 4th, Waterstock, and many more. Please help us with support in making sure this place stays!!!! I sent a short e-mail to all the chairman listed in the letter showing my support. Please read the copied letter in the next post and help show support.
Thanks,
Joey

Whats the deal with 5000 characters max??? I'll haf the split this copied letter into 2 posts.

Read the Open Letter below and please contact your County Supervisor and
let them know you support Tim's Rivershore and feel he is getting the
raw end of the deal. Remind them that you are a voter and know that they
involved. Tim has a Court date for next week and County Staff came down
to the Rivershore during the busy weekend and made Tim close all of his
Deck seating send many kids home with no pay and leaving no room for
people to eat. GET INVOLVED RIGHT NOW! Again, read the Open Letter below
and please contact your County Supervisor and let them know you support
Tim's Rivershore and feel he is getting the raw end of the deal.

Thanks
Pirate Mike

Tim’s Rivershore is having difficulty with Prince William County zoning
and permitting.

Tim’s has been in operation since 1992 and prior to that it was owned
and operated by native local watermen the Dent’s and the Cumberlands.
The Rivershore was in operation under their control since 1970. It has
been an important landmark and establishment to the watermen and county
residents since then.

Currently Tim’s is one of the only remaining ports for local fisheries
and the local seafood industry on the upper Potomac River and is
responsible for the processing of fish, crabs, eels and other seafood
which is distributed locally as well as internationally.

In the past 10 years Tim Bauckman has enhanced the atmosphere and the
access of local boating to this seafood and culture and sponsors events
in conjunction with Leesylvania State Park and the local boat
sales/service marina’s in the eastern portion of Prince William County -
that so many of us have come to enjoy and expect. Activities like the
annual “Not on the Fourth of July Fireworks” are enjoyed by several
thousand boaters and countless people who come from all over the area to
view the event from Leesylvania State Park.

Tim’s has also been active in sponsorship of so many charity functions
such as the “Polar Plunge” for Special Olympics, crab races for The
American Cancer Society, ski-a-thon for Joe Melice Memorial Scholarship
Fund and many more. In all, charity funds raised amount in excess of
Ten’s of thousands of dollars each year!

Tim’s is a major employer of the community's youth employing over 150
people throughout the course of the year, helping many of them pay their
way through college.

The Rivershore, as you can see, has been and continues to truly be a
vital and beneficial component of our community.

On September 18, 2003 Hurricane Isabel devastated our area especially
our waterfront. The Pilot House Restaurant, another equally traditional
and vital waterfront establishment was closed and is no longer with us.
Due to overwhelming red tape, the owners of 33 years decided to remove
the structure and close the doors on an era of fine dining. Many people
have been at a loss for this closure.

Tim’s was no exception and is now faced with a similar fate due to a
very large effort by Prince William County Government to restrict and
impose regulation on the use of the property, which has now been in
existence for over 3 decades.

Over the last couple of years the focus on intervention by the County
Government has increased and the effects of Hurricane Isabel have
brought the pressure to a point of legal action by the County Government
– at a time when the development of the Cherry Hill peninsula is gaining
momentum and on the County's master plan, Tim’s seems to be contrary to
the plan.

The Developers have relentlessly attempted to buy The Rivershore
property as they are doing with the entire peninsula using heavy
pressure. This coupled with the intense pressure by the Prince William
County staff could result in the loss of another 30 year tradition.

We ask for your support in insuring that Tim’s Rivershore is allowed to
continue as it has for the past decade so as to preserve over 3 decades
of history and activities.

Please contact your local supervisor as a count resident. If you are
not a county resident please contact your state delegates or any Prince
William County Supervisor.

Failure to get involved now will only mean that Tim is on his own and
soon you may only be able to get seafood by car and have no where to go
on your boat except outside of this county.

Thanks Brian, Monsoon looks and sounds great. We were idling out of Fairview when you were coming in on Sunday. We'll meet up sooner or later so I can get a closer look.

was at Tim's today while the Prince William County building officials were there. They posted violation permits on both ends of the deck area, and yellow taped the area with " structure not safe" or something like that. The outside seating area and tiki bar is affected. You still can go by boat and use the dock, but you will have to walk around to the parking lot to go into Tim's to dine.
According to Tim, he has a court date with the county in two weeks to try to resolve this issue, and until then I guess no deck allowed. He also told me that the inspector told him that it was the local district county supervisor ( I think it is a lady) that told the county inspectors to come down today and shut him down. I guess Prince William County is not getting their fair share of revenue. What BS.
I hope Tim can resolve this ASAP, and wish him best of luck.
For those of you that stop by, you can fill out a questionnaire that will help his cause.

I'll be there. Last years was a blast, especially when Frankie stirred up a "Street Race" between the 2 Skaters during the lunch stop at Tims II. It was funny to see everyone empty the tables with hot food and head to the dock for a look. Unfortuntaly the one from Offshore Performance had a starter problem and it didn't happen.
