Re: Does anyone have experience with these cheap diesel generators ?
5% variation on frequency will put it 57-63 Hz. That's a little loose for some items.
It's fine for motor related stuff (A/C, Fridge, etc..) but will show up on the screen of a TV when other stuff kicks on and off.. Is it junk? Dunno. I would expect an air cooled diesel to be pretty darn loud. I may be wrong though. Go try one out and let us know. |
Re: Does anyone have experience with these cheap diesel generators ?
Belt drive, not a great setup..
Loud? Yes Parts availability: Orphan Amp rating: They give you the max output @ 115 volts, tho 120 is standard. Minor difference, but still misleading. Gensets are like stereo, most have a peak rating which the sellers advertise, and a true continuous output (usually a .8 multiplier) rating, or performance factor. A v twin genset under 35 HP is not going to run an entire house if your including AC in the mix.. If your not, then a 10KW will do the trick if your not running everything at once.. Me, I use a 50KW diesel for mine :) Got to love that 300 amp transfer switch on the wall  |
Re: Does anyone have experience with these cheap diesel generators ?
Glad I asked ! Sounds cheap for a reason ...... Thanks everyone ! I will look elsewhere .
PS. I think the 50KW would be a little too heavy for my motor home ! That would be nice though ! I could rent it out to everyone around me to plug into ,and pay for my trip ! |
Re: Does anyone have experience with these cheap diesel generators ?
Boot,
Go for a Generac Home standby you can get from Home Depot. They have Automatic Swithces, that start the gen. up when power goes down. These swiches alone are $ 1000. If you'r like me, the the power goes out when you arn't home. You need something that automacially does it for you. Also, 7.5 kw is small. You want 12-15 kw to run the whole house. Wannabe |
Re: Does anyone have experience with these cheap diesel generators ?
Four gallons per hour seems awfully piggish. A 15 kW at full load should be about 1.4 gallons per hour, while a 30 kW is about 2.3 gallons per hour. When you reach the four gallon per hour stage, the motor should closely match a 45 kW. This fuel consumption rating is from Aggreko literature (generator rental company worldwide, they do not sell marine generators). A 7,500 watt generator (7.5 kW) would be a decent size unit for most pleasure marine applications in the 30'-40' boat range, if the compressor (A/C) start load is not too much. I am not familiar with this model you have listed. I hope this is somewhat helpful for you.

Re: Does anyone have experience with these cheap diesel generators ?
Thanks ! I am lerning alot about generators. There is much more to it then I thought ( Like everything else in life !)
Remember ,this is for a motor home ...... I just found out that "stand by " units are not the right thing to do . They have bad frequency like mcollinstn was saying . You don't want your high end apliances running from one of these units . Looks like I will have to bite the bullet and get a real "RV generator" . Mayeb Onan, Honda, Generac ,etc....... Prices are not too bad until you go diesel .... I think about 7500 watts would be minimum ,but OK, for my motor home needs . BIgger is better if the price is right ! Anybody have any ideas on where to get the best price ? Thanks for all the info ! Joe |
Re: Does anyone have experience with these cheap diesel generators ?
THE repretation of these china diesel are not very good ,as I have been
reading instantes of 3 or 4 small china start falling apart after 60hours... When your looking 40,000 hours that just does not work.... MY exprence and best study suggestion is to look into an Detroit 2-71 Diesel ,they are everything the china diesel people say theirs are but much more ... First of all they are American made ,parts are right here, parts are cheap and you can get a rebuilt one from $3500 to $6500 with warranty and can get WVO FUEL READY with a two tank system ,starting with small petro or bio diesel tank and then after warming the WVO SYSTEM switches over to chead WASTE VEGIE OIL (wvo)at perhaps .10 gallon while your biodiesel homemade could cost from .44 to .70 this works great while ontop this ,the 2-71 Detroit Diesel is 40,000 hour rated motor.
