I doubt you'll see anything like that.
They do not have a cost-effective and reliable drive for that power. They are not going to ramp up 5's production for that, if they are producing any at all these days.

I think the 525EFI is a GREAT package. Being that I am an ocean boater, the closed cooling really turned me on. In fact, I was ready to pass on boats with 500EFI's and settle for the 496HO, another motor I like. The SmartCraft system is the future with all the system monitoring and saftey net protection built in. One of my favorite things reported with the SmartCraft is the Gallons Used and Gallons per Hour. No more relying on the STUUUUUPPID fuel guages :hothead: . After a day of boating, the meters read 34 gallons used per side and when I went to refuel ... exactly 34 gallons per side.

I'm with you, fuel usage is worth a ton of moneyto me alone, I have been considering putting fuel flow meters on both my tanks, because I have no idea how much fuel I burn.

WOW G. I did not know the Smartcraft had "flowscan" built into it. I may be looking to expand my guage set as you did.

Yup, closed cooling is VERY nice, and you will see people pass over boats with 500's for the ease and convenience of it, whether it be 496's or 525's...

like i posted in the post a few days ago (merc fill the gap) i was told that merc is coming out with a 700 hp motor and a new drive to go with it,, after reading this i would feel confident in believing that as merc is not going to leave any $ on the table for others to get..
