$25k re-builds every 50-60 hours is no slouch either.

90-95k is the motor drive combo or so I heard, I was told 100k for the combo at Miami. This was not retail price, rather what you can expect to pay. That is about what you would pay with the Chief 1050 and #6 drive combo. I rode in the 42 OL in Miami with the 1075's and I thought they were excellent motors. I have not heard of the recent problems other than this one. The first 50 hour check over is supposed to be at Mercury's expense. I think they just want to see whats going on, not that the motors will only last 50 hours.

Powerboat excerpt:
To date, Cigarette, Fountain and Outerlimits installed 1075 engines in twin configurations, though none of the companies is completely "certified," according to Butt. Cigarette has installed 1075 power plants in two boats. Fountain and Outerlimits have each completed one installation. No less than five other performance boat builders are awaiting delivery of the PCM 03-controlled mills, which come with limited 90-day warranties.
Nice idle at the dock and well mannered with lots of electronics. Gotta figure a pair in a top-end offshore puts the package close to a million bucks. Ouch on the 90 day warranty and rebuild schedule. High HP piston gasoline engines obviously have a short shelf life. Goes with the territory. You have to have the mind set that a rebuild is nothing more than an oil change.
