Well, get back to him and tell him whether your boat is still for sale or not. On paper, there is no risk: they pick the boat up once the dough is in your account. If they try to change that arrangement somehow, like "you have to send us US$ X to get the money going or for transfer costs" or try to set up some kind of a funny escrow arrangement where money is not 100% in your possesion before they take the boat, tell them to piss off. No money, no boat, simple as that...

BTW, never heard anything about Boat Town Consulting but will check...

I've had lots of the scam e-mails, at least this one can more or less type. I sent a reply that it would require wire transfer (I have a seperate always empty account used only for incoming wires) and a US agent to pick-up the boat and papers. I did talk with a guy on the French Rivera who was interested in it previously (but was a little shocked once he figured out how much gas it would use) so it is possible I guess. Will see if they have a reasonable reply.

Super T - if you find anything drop me a line.

Thanks - Greg

Sounds like a scam to me... no offense, but I just can't see the economics of buying a 20 year old, $40K boat and shipping it to Europe. Big money items, maybe, but not something in that price range. It's kind of like saying someone wants to buy an F-150 and ship it to England.

But, the world is a strange place, and this guy does actually seem to be able to type in English, so you never know. Let us know how it pans out....

Hello,
I am Gordon Jackson,(no space)sales manager for BoatTown (C)consulting
International England.(no space)We specialise in purchase of boats for
our customers here in Europe and across the globle(would that be "globe"?), we get paid in
commission,(space)once payment is confirmed and cleared by you,(space)after which we
will arrange for the pick up of the boat.(so they send you a bunch of money with no contract, inspection of the boat, nothing - at least according to what this says)(again, space)As of present we have a customer
interested in purchasing your boat.(The space bar is that long, skinny key, near the SHIFT key. Please use both.)please get back to me if (it) is still
available for sale.
Regards,(um, think you're supposed to put your name here)
I don't know, the more I read it, the more it looks like the "Nigerian Oil Minister" found a new job brokering boats. My comments in italics....

You've helped me out, now its my turn.

He's a Fake!

Despite our new european community.

The English are English, not Europeans. We havent adjusted (yet).

It would not be 'here in Europe' it would be 'both in Europe and the UK'

or 'in England and on the continent'.

Any UK boat sales business will more than likely have the word broker in it.
If you need to check one out at any time let me know.

Lets stop it as fast as it started

Steve

Sounds like this might lead to "We need you checking account number to deposit the money." There in lies the scam. If they are a custom boat broker..what is their website?
