Outerlimits 42 Legacy w/1075 Mercs

I just read the article in the July issue of boating on the 1075. The author tested them in a 42 Legacy. The said speed was 118.5mph.

I figured the OL would run much faster with this setup, even a non epoxy layup. Maybe the boat had full cabin features and amenities, which would make sense.

How fast are the 42 legacies running with comparible 1000-1100hp?

I have a friend who was running Sterling 1000's in a 42 with full cabin etc and it ran about 115.

Most magazine boat tests occur on "slow days" and the editors always throw in comments like "The manufacturer reports 10 mph more in their tests, and we believe them, since we conducted our tests into a 50 mph head wind coming from all directions, and the temperature was 105 degrees F, at the highest lake in North America."

On the other hand....most real world users go 10 mph slower than the magazine tests, after adding such useless items as a fuel load, and a third passenger.

a 4300 Nortech 43'10" 13400 pounds, loaded with all the toys, Gen, ect... does 110mph w/1075's. So that seem about right, the Outerlimits is lighter by about 2000 plus pounds.

That is a full cabin Outerlimits, with all the amenities. I rode in it in Miami. With 6 people and full tanks we ran it up to 112 with more left. Ran out of room with the shore line and other boats. Poker Run Magazine tested the boat at 123. It is an awesome riding boat. Here is the tattle tale when Bob Russel took us for a ride, obviously this was not done with us in the boat.

Could be because it is a "bmp" image instead of "jpg." Just a guess as I am NOT a computer expert. :D It works when you click it, so thanks for the pic!
