Re: Who makes the best blower/supercharger?
Dustin-
Please give us more details about your new 305 line. Will this use the same manifold/intercooler as before and when will it be readily available? Pricing?
TIA

Re: Who makes the best blower/supercharger?
I spoke with Dustin yesterday and he said it should be ready by May, but I'm sure everyone would rather here it from him.
Also, Dustin, when your posting could you give us a little more info about the 9.8's that you use to make, Like, What are they're capabilities as compared to your new one or the quads, also why you quit making them, and If we could get one would there be parts available for them.
Thanks in advance, Michael

Alrighty then...
Here's the Rtech system on the HP500EFI and 525EFI. Stock heads and cam. The 500 was dynoed by Precision Marine, the 525 by Arizona Speed & Marine. Same pulley on the blower in both cases, 7 psi, the 525 just breathes better.

Tomcat, it looks like you're the only one with a dyno sheet. sure makes it hard to compare the big numbers we've been reading about.

As for the best blower, every type of forced induction has it's niche and could possibly be considered "the best" in a certain field. The turbo will almost always give you the most peak horsepower, the screw compressor will give you the broadest power band.
As for the PSI questions, the quad rotor was not capable of the airflow levels required for the 1500+hp when the 2.3 liter compressors were the only ones available. 3 years ago, we released the 3.3 Liter quad rotor and since that time, many of the largest, most recognizied engine builders have chosen them over the PSI because they make more torque and more hp at lower boost levels, not to mention distribution, idle quality and fitment. We made a 9.8 liter race supercharger which Racecrafters used on his motors, this re-wrote the record books in drag racing and was king for a good 6 years. But with rules and other companies bending the rules, the latest PSI offered racers in the 60lb boost range better performance. In the marine application, the 980 is far superior to the PSI, as well as our quad rotor, but we don't make the SC anymore.
Ratman, Pat Austin used our screw compressors up until their last season of racing.
Thanks,
Dustin

Twin turbos (more $) will generally eliminate turbo lag - at least in cars. A centrifigal would in theory have the same type of issues as it won't make much boost at low RPM, but when the power comes on it does it big time and just keeps coming.
I haven't played with marine applications, so not sure if there is an issue.
