Sorry man, . . . Burlington - what was I thinkin ? Hell, I used to ski at Killington.

Anyway, although I am in California now, New England (Gloucester, MA) will always be my home.

Sox are gettin KICKED at Yankee Stadium this week . . . and I'm hatin' life.

"Loophole" ha, "some get away with only paying a few thousand in taxes for their boat". Give me a break I think most of us on this board pay more than our fair share of taxes for everything else. I think some of the jerks the say they need to close the loophole need to look at what makes our economy strong. Just my $.02

I've had customers do the same thing with classic cars.. some of them run into the 100's of thousands... I had one customer take delivery of a P II Rolls in Nevada... just to avoid the sales tax. It definately paid for the transportation both ways several times over...

I tried that when i bought my wifes 745 i in march 04 and there is sales tax in nevada,,
i went as far as had the deal done with a one way tag deal from the dealer to save the 7000.00.. but before we went thru with it i called and was told there is sales tax now i believe it was 6.5% so wasnt worth the hassle.. so i ate it and lived with it,, AGAIN...

Try living in New York...
Even if your boat is documented ' you have to register it and pay the 8.25% sales tax.
Just got my property tax bill... $12,000.00. Was 8k last year but the govt decided they needed more money for medicade and school tax because the poor teachers are only making 75k a year for 6 months work.

Out of state delivery to Arizona and Federal Documentation is the way to go Nort (providing the boat can be towed). Arizona actually has a law stating it is illegal for a boat to be dual registered. So by using the home port of Lake Havasu City and federal documntation I am complying with Arizona state law.

If you take out of state delivery in Az, do you need to pay Az sales tax?

Yes....but they are trying to change the law so that any CA resident that brings a vessel, plane or RV from out of state has to pay.
