Wellcraft Scarab Sprint Question

Does anybody have or know anything about mini scarabs?

I am looking at a 1997 Scarab sprint (18 or 19'), that was a recovered theft, (No motor, No interior, No Drive).

From what I learned, they only went like 50, but I am thinking about mounting a Mercury V6 OB on a bracket after I fill the transom hole.

Should go like hell...

Good "careless and reckless" idea or am I waisting my time?

Re: Wellcraft Scarab Sprint Question

I added a Place diverter and went from 50mph to 51 mph. It was a turd. The exhaust leaked below the waterline. I raised so much hell, the factory gave me full credit on a 22'. About a year later I got a recall letter from Wellcraft about the leaky exhaust. A 350 with a Bravo might be fun.

1998 Wellcraft 22' Scarab
Re: Wellcraft Scarab Sprint Question

pretty fun little boats but not much room at all. if you want to modify a 4.3 V6 they will move. Stay away from the ones with the 3.0 liter. those were at best 48-MPH
