Default 1970's 36 Foot Cigarette

I looking at a mid 70's 36 foot cigarette project boat. Is there major issues I should consider before I take on a project of this vintage. I am concerned with things other than the basics such as water damage. Did the hull have weaknesses etc. Thanks Rick G.

I just bought a 1976 Cig 28SS. It's built so damn heavy that I can't imagine anything on the boat being weak. If the one you're looking at is built like this one I hope you have a strong tow rig...

McManus was at Cigarette around 1977 to 1984. One of his traits is building durable, heavy hulls that last over 25 years. Thats why the boats are still around 30 years later. Maybe you should email him a photo if you have one.

I have a one built in 1972, check this out

http://www.go-fast.com/bam,_the_project.htm

Built like a tank, minor cracked bulkheads and ribs over the years. Is it staggered or side by side? Will take a lot of power to see any real speed.

Rick, which boat are you looking at? Is it local? hows about some pics. Does it perchance have a large cat painted on the deck?

Have you looked at this one yet? I believe it needs one, if not, two engine rebuilds and some enterior work.
