I guess the value would be determined by how big the piece of paper is that you want to hold down.

Sometimes when you ar trying to make a very high quality weld, they will heat the surrounding metal to a red hot state. That proably burned off all the oil, causing the block to rust instantly. They wern't too concerned because they were going to boil the block which would have removed it.
