Re: Chevy truck info wanted
i have 98 1500 with a 350 voretc. it puked tranny around 95k miles. Since then i put like 30k on the new tranny and seem sok. I know the 350 vortec had aprpblem withte intake gaskets they are WAY to thin and fail prematurely. MIne went and i had to pull the intake manifold and install new ones. I'mnot sur ei the 454 vortec had teh same problem or not.

Yep, 1996 is correct. Highly recommend that year or later.

R Addiction,
I'm looking at dually's. Kind of scared of the 6.5 diesel. Probably only use it 5000 miles or so a year anyway. It sure would be nice to go new, but I would rather dump the extra coin into the boat. |
Re: Chevy truck info wanted
I put 100K on my 96 Chevy Dooley 454 auto. Towed more miles than empty. Never had tranny problems. C1500 had a 4L60 trans, C3500 has a 4L80, different transmission. Never had intake gasket problems either.

Re: Chevy truck info wanted
I'd say 10 to 15,000. I'd like to find something like DanB's truck shown above. Would like to find something with 75K miles or less.
