Default Ideas on why my Air conditioning in my truck doesn't work

Last year I hit a deer and it wiped out my front end. Insurance paid for it. After I got the truck back (1996 c3500 chevy dually) the AC didn't seem to blow as cold. I took it back to the collision shop that fixed it. They leak checked it but could not find any leaks, and tried refilling it. They put in about 1/2 lb of r134a. It still doesn't blow cold. What would affect the AC system in a deer collision that would cause the air to not blow as cold. I checked the compressor and it is engaging. Any thoughts? This is stumping me and wanted to see if anyone else had an experience like this.

Thanks
Pat

Have a compentent shop do a leak test around the fittings and the condenser coil (behind the grill). They may have overlooked a
small leak or there is a fitting w/o an o-ring or has been left loose.
It aparently has some gas in it since the compressor starts. It
also could have a damper door vacuum hose disconnected.

Check the cheap stuff first!

Hard To Tell Off Hand ...
However Does The Compressor Stay On Or Cycle Fast? And Does The Accumulator Get Cold? There Is A Small Screen In The Line Down Next To The Condensor Inbound To The System Could Be Pluged W/debris From The Old Damaged Parts... Also Like Noted Above Do The Vent Doors Switch..?

When my AC light blinks I have to disconnect the battery for a minute to reset the computer.... This probably isn't your problem but its worth a try....

What he said. Keep on top of it especially if the insurance co is involved. If you don't like the shop's answers talk with the insurance co (if involved) and ask where they would like you to take it to be checked.

In about another month you won't need it you might want to see if your heat works before it get too late

Thanks for all the replies. The vent door and temp control door are controlled my small stepper motors. I pulled apart the dash to make sure the temp control door was opening and closing all the way and it was. I then got all the factory specs on what the hi and lo side pressures should be. I went back to the Collision shop and had them recover the refrigerant, vacuum it down and recharge it. When the AC system was running the the hi and lo side pressure were 145 and 75 respectfully. They should have been 320 and 28. (all in PSI). So I think the compressor is shot. No I have to fight with the insurance company to get them to replace the compressor (about $250.00)

Make sure they installed the expansion tube filter in the condensor. The pressures you are stating indicate the filter may have inadvertently left out. Sam
