Re: HELL OF A WEEK!!! Another Crash
My buddy Jim had the skater with the wild paint job that was on the photo shoot yesterday. When a photo shoot is done like that, the helicopter has to fly very low in what us helicopter pilots refer to as the "Dead Mans Curve''.Basically you do not have enough airspeed or altitude to make a safe Auto Rotation(Emergency Landing).I hope that the pilot was able to make a hard landing and that everyone is O.K.If the person who saw this said that the helicopter rolled over that is from a hard landing and the skids collapsing.Again I hope everyone got out O.K.

Re: HELL OF A WEEK!!! Another Crash
auto rotation sounds so much better than emergency landing...
pilot : "we are now gonna try an auto rotation......" me: "sweet....." me (a few moments later...) : "crash well you did....) |

Another satisfied passenger....Like we always say a " good landing is one that you walk away from ". |

Copter and boat meet intimately???? helecopter made it to 4 ft water before hitting ... laying on side in water. Took photo's on film camera ..... unbelievable. Mercury Marine was on the lake taking photos of some of their newest products for an upcoming brochure. There was a sweet Skater and an Allison outboard boat. Today, the helicopter crashed in four feet of water, it was laying on its side. I think it might have come in contact with the Skater because when it came back to the dock, the engine cover was missing and it sounded a little rough. I took photo, but used my film camera so I'll need to get them developed and then scanned so I can post them here on OSO. It was Unbelievable to witness. Am I close??? Puder wadda you think? |
