Smith Mountain Lake, VA... Labor Day Weekend
DocmanRich37 and Jenn, OutlawMark and Michelle, Throttle Therapy-Tom & Kim, Walkin the Dog-Don & Colleen, and myself and Tammy are hitting SML; Bernard's Landing for the weekend. There are a few others coming down too. I understand Bryan Tuvell from VA Beach is coming down as well. Should be a great weekend; including seeing the Worx Band hopefully.
http://www.theworxband.com/ Worth the trip if you can get to see them.
Will, I'll see you at my spot on the beach. Thanks for the hospitality last weekend.

I'm looking at possibly going as well. Might stay at a guest house located at Shoreline Marina if it's open. But first I have to get a trailer if I plan on driving my own rig.

How big is the lake? Can you take speed boats in there? and are they friendly about it?
Thanks

Re: Smith Mountain Lake, VA... Labor Day Weekend
I was just up at SML last weekend. It was pretty low key. I'm sure it will be different this weekend.
The only thing that I've heard they are cracking down on is the noise. I think you can get a ticket if you don't have mufflers? I haven't brought my Spectre up since the Poker Run and they were letting the noise slide that day.
The top boats that live on the lake are a 36' Spectre, 34' Daves Custom, and a 30' Eliminator. Mark, with Shoreline Marine usually has a couple pretty fast v's set up also.
What boats are going?
If anyone needs a place to dock there boat at night let me know. My parents have a house just above Hales Ford Bridge.

Three 37 Active Thunders 496s/500s/525s
388 Hustler/575s
26 Eliminator/BIG Power
23 Sunsation/540
288 Sunsation/496s
33 Donzi/unk power
A couple more boats are going.
27Fountain lives there with a 27Fever and HP500EFI.
Its quite a big lake, not big and round, but long as in about a 40 minute cruise end to end; lots of twists, VERY deep, 80-200+ feet in places; lots of coves, and a few restaurants.
I ran up and down that lake two weekends ago in my 37 AT, and I was virtually the only HP boat out that weekend. I was courteous, and saw the WP/GW several times with no incidents; knock on wood. The WP/GW drive undercover boats that have been siezed, so be careful.
I think it is far and away the most beautiful area of Virginia.
