You can keep the catfish, but cheese grits and sweet tea are the deal!

Born in Memphis, raised in Florida, did take an 18 year vacation "up nawth", returned to Florida.

Just as soon eat sand as cheese grits. :D :D

The cheese ones are ok, but the ones with butter and some sugar on top are even better! :D

Just some information as an FYI:

There are many great lake in the SE I will give you a briefing on the ones I have been on:

Lake Murray: Approximately 50,000 acres Within a 30 min drive to Columbia the capital city (depending on where you live). Great lake...wonderful people. If you are looking for a place to raise a family you won't find a better area. I grew up here so I am biased :D . Thought to be pricey by some but compared to other lakes a bargain. If you are seriously looking for several acres with deep water...if you find it for under $1 million you better jump on it. A friend of mine sold 1/3 of an acre with deep water (point lot) for $375,000 2 years ago I have several friends that are realtors that I can get in touch with you, if needed just drop me a PM.

Lake Hartwell: Approximately 55,000 acres. Around Clemson and Anderson, SC (Greenville proximity). Definitely a great place to go to college, again I'm a little biased because I graduated from Clemson University :D .Still a Jewel in hiding in my opinion as far as price. There are some very good deals on Hartwell still but not sure how much a few acres with deep water would be. Another good place for a family.

Lake Norman: Basically your in Charlotte, NC and with this you are buying property on a lake that is covered with NASCAR drivers and bank executives. I don't want to speculate what you would pay for property with deep water here but it will be BIG, if you can find it. I haven't been on Norman enough to give you an opinion of the lake. I do know they are relatively strict on some boating laws (per NC boaters)

Lake Lanier: Very close proximity to Atlanta, GA. With the big city that close you are going to pay some big money for acreage with deep water. I looked at several houses there a couple of months ago (kicking around a job offer) and they were pricey as compared to other lakes. To be near such a big city it does still have the rural setting that I require :D I have been on a poker run here and it is a nice lake with good boating. Also a good cocktail cove for...well...you know :drink:

That is a half ass summary of the lakes I have spent some time on. In all honesty you can't go wrong with any of the lakes listed above. You kinda have to weigh your options out and find what combination best suits you: pricing, large city, rural, good schools, etc..
