Default Supercharged Engines...Life expectancy

I just completed 8 seasons with the same engine. No smoke, knocks, rattles, oil leaks or usage or connecting rods exiting through the oil pan. How about them apples?

4-6 lbs boost...some idling, some full throttle, mostly high speed cruising. A lot of oil and filter changes. No Airplane imitations. Never had a valve cover off.

How much HP. What kind of blowers? And did you build them or did you buy them?

This engine was never qualified for horsepower on a dyno. Heres the parts list.
Modified 1150 Dominator.
B&M 250 supercharger
MSD ignition
AFR prepared Merlin Heads
Gil Offshore exhaust
Crane Hydraulic roller cam
pete jackson gear drive
Merlin block
JE pistons
Oliver Billet rods
Moroso Offshore pan
Weston Machine shop handled the machine work.
I assembled and installed. It still idles smoothly at 900rpm and rips up to 5000rpm without a single hiccup.

Parts list sounds great except for the gear drive.

I've never heard of a gear driven timing set-up lasting very long in a marine application.

Harmonics/same rpm @ long duration = short life
