Am concerned that the Bravo replacement (ASD6) is too wimpy for the intended power increase we have in mind (moving to around 850 a side - after all, why spend money if you're not going to throw more horses at it, eh?).

Been on the site. I see the ASD8-6 has some kind of ability to change prop rotation within the unit. Do the other ASD8 dropboxes also offer this capability?

The number after the dash is the drop length. The -6 is the only drive that can use two right-hand rotating motors. Scorcerer and Bacardi Silver both use the ASD8-6. I think Jett Sett uses ASD10s.

I assume transom plugging is required for any Arneson option aside from the ASD6 Bravo kit. Are any structural changes required (I am thinking the answer is no). With an ASD8-6 installation, is the "top edge" of the trim cylinder mount higher than the top edge of a Bravo transom assy (assume same crankshaft height)? If so, how far (the MTI/Scism transom assy is mounted very close to the bottom edge of the swim platform.)?

What about other brands?

"Blown Formula" swapped to Arensons and from what I have read and heard the conversion was very successful, pricey but successful. You are right though, no more costly than sending props diving to the bottom.

I think he's got that 382 running up near 110 mph at this point. I realize it's a different application, but it still speaks well on the conversion.

This is the 377 Talon that you saw (I think). I figured you saw him idling in also. He broke a Bmax about 200 feet in front of you. This was his first time driving it, he picked it up on Thursday. Guess what, his was hanging on by one bolt, all the rest were snapped off. He thought you both hit something, he told me he looked back and saw you hatches up.

Bravos or B Max's on a 42 Cat is nuts! Even a 36 cat with Bravos is insane.
