Anybody hiring in South Florida???
I was informed this afternoon, that half of my company is being sold, and I may be layed off next week, dependent on if we get a certain contract or not. Looking for work, I currently Manufacture Medical Equipment(all aspects of manufacturing from scheduling, purchasing, through Production, and shipping), but will do almost anything for a buck!!!

Re: Anybody hiring in South Florida???
A little over a year ago, I was faced withe the same delima. Half of the company was sold and I was not sure what was going to happento my position. I found that the only way to secure my position was to buy the remainder of the company. The next 3.5 years are going to be tough but after that, I will own the company free and clear. Anyway good luck and hopefully it will work out for the best.

Thanks, but if I had any $$$$ this would not be the company to buy!!!
I am kinda looking at it as a blessing in disguise, The Kick in the azz I finally need to get some schooling, and learn a real trade. I have been working in this biz for 12 years, and it has been VERY good at paying the bills, but its time for something New. I enjoy working with my hands, and that is how I got started in the Med biz, but in order to move up, and make more $$$, I had to put down the wrenches, and take a desk job. I worked at my last company for 10 years, and worked my way from the bottom, to the engineering dept. building prototypes. When I decided to move to FL 2 years ago, I got Lucky, and found the same job, for similar $$ down here, only for a much smaller company, with a less popular product(concept is good, just not the right time for the market). They have been very good to me, and no hard feelings, but in order to salvage the company, they had to sell off(to a partner), all products currently being manufactured, except one. We have been working on a contract with that last product for a while now, and it is supposed to be final by the end of the month, if we get it, I keep working, if not, I take my severance, Pink Slip, Belongings, and walk away.
I do a LOT more than just turning wrenches though, I am their purchasing guy, receiving, shipping, Material handler, and maintenance. Basically I am a one man production Dept. I am going to give them the option of keeping me on part time if it comes to that, then I can go to school, and still work there, otherwise I am going to have to find employment elsewhere, to make the mortgage and truck payment each month.

Re: Anybody hiring in South Florida???
Rick,
Don't feel too bad. I have had 2, yes 2, two million dollar sales fall apart this year! Those were my only deals so far too! Of course I won't have to pay too much in taxes either.
Now, don't you feel better already?
