towing with a 2004 silverado SS

i have a 98 29 scarab with twin small blocks. in the midst of purchasing the above mentioned truck. towing capacity is rated 7500lbs...boat weighs 6300 and its on a triple axel steel float on trailer i believe trailer weight is like 2-2300 lbs but unsure. am i pressing my luck ? wont be used for long hauls..its 4 miles round trip to the ramp and maybe once in a while a longer trip...Jersey to NY something like that.

I think you will probably be OK. Just remember there is no such thing as too much truck. Get airbags on the truck. They have no payload capacity in the back, and it will sag when you stick the trailer on it.

Bern,
You have a nice truck..
I don't think you'll have any trouble unless you push your luck on the highway.... Just assume that you're a little overloaded, and drive it carefully...
I have pulled more with less...

i had one with the 4l60e. get the 4l80e. i towed 6,000 pounds and tore it out 3 times. it was under the tow rating, but the constant shifting burned up the bands.
