Default trim tab indicator cables

I was finally able to get my old style k-planes off to repaint them and probably should have asked this question before I cut the indicator cables with a bolt cutter, but where is the best place to find a new set of indicator cables and the thru-hull fitting that screws to the trim tab backing that the cables are routed through? I hope the still sell ones that will fit the old style k-planes? Thanks in advance guy's.

You can order the Mercruiser tab parts and new Morse cables from any Mercury Dealer. BAM and Dollar Marine (both OSO advertizers) can both help you. Before you call, you need to get the exact length of of each cable. Installing new trim tab cables can be a challenge on some boats....especially with the engine(s) installed.

You can get the thru hulls from any Merc dealer as stated, but I would go with the Ultraflex cables. Livorsi sells them or I would be glad to get them for you. Just figure out what lengths you need. It will be stamped on the cable either in feet or in inches, depending on what cables you have.

JLAY,
Kind of off topic but, did you really use them on the scout? I have a set and was contemplating whether to install them or not... I will be rolling some set back also... Check out the Lavorsi catalog, seamed the had alot of nice thru hauls when I was looking.. Also, doesnt the indicator cable go through the transom plate of the k-plane?

Thanks for the reply's guys. Eddie, I will probably call or shoot you an email when I measure the length needed, I am going to relocate the indicator to a center console that i am going to make, sort of a race set-up, with the throttle, indicators and trim in the center so when my wife drives i can handle everything else.

J-bonz -I mostly use it to plane quicker (i put them level) but mostly to come off of plane. The boat sits so low in the back when coming off plane, water would splash just about to the back seat. When i talked to alex, the previous owner, he said to use the tab as a brake and it works like a charm! When I come off plane I bury the tabs and it stops on a dime and no water washes up from the back! For the indicator, yes it does go through the tab transom plate but there is a stainless steel threaded "thru hull fitting"with a rubber grommet on the plate for the cable to exit and be water tight.

Young performance, is the length stamped in one spot on the cable or all along it. I need to replace my drive indicator cables.
