Boating in St Augustine area
I'm going to the Florida / Georgia game the end of the month. We normally go up and golf the day before the game. This year we're going to a fish camp on the ICW.
We have been debating on weather to take fishing boats and fish or, take my boat and do some cruising / bar hopping. My questions are:
We have been debating on weather to take fishing boats and fish or, take my boat and do some cruising / bar hopping. My questions are:
- How is the boating around there?
- Can you get to Jax on the ICW?
- Are there many idle spped zones?

Re: Boating in St Augustine area
The boating around St. Augustine is great. You can dock at the municipal marina next to the bridge of lions and walk to the downtown shopping area, or go over to the Conch House marina which is around the point by the lighthouse. The Conch House has a good resteraunt and bar. There aren't many idle speed zones between there and Jax. One fairly long of a couple miles, but not too bad. Watch for the current on the St. Johns in downtown Jax, it can get a little swift, and watch for rocks where the St. Johns meets the ICW just outside the channel. Have Fun, Go Gators.
