towing question
i have a 2002 dodge ram with a 4.7. it is rated to tow 7100 lbs. i have a question about towing.i am looking at a boat that wieghts around 6800 lbs. i dont know how much it is with a trailer. i tow about 25 miles to marina but i only tow it to and from the marina about twice a year. i leave it at the marina. my question is, whould it be ak to tow this heavy of a boat or should i look at smaller boats.

Be very careful you will be over the limit of your tow rating with just a few things aboard, make sure the trailer has brakes and drive slow.

Re: towing question
Another potentially MAJOR issue to consider. If you happen to be in an accident towing something, the first thing the insurance company will do is to investigate whether what you were towing exceeded the tow vehicle's towing capacity. If it they determine that it does exceed the tow vehicle's rating, your insurance will become void.
I had to upgrade trucks just for this issue alone, and they do check.
