Re: Donzi 33ZX Speed
The Donzi cabin is much nicer than a BAJA. Sea Ray should give BAJA lessons on cabin lay out and fit and finish. The Donzi fit and finish is very superior to BAJA. They are close to FORMULA in this department. The only draw back to the 33 Donzi that I saw was they were set up for the props to turn in. This will take some getting used to around a dock. The one that Gulf Coast Hatteras has for sale came out of TX or LA. I looked at it and it was very clean and low hour. It is their trade and they have had it it about 18 months or more. It has enough head room that @ 5'7" my wive did not have to stoop in the cabin. The trailer on this boat isn't anything to wright home about. It does have good graphics. I would bet 110-120k would take it and it should have some of the 5 year warranty left.

Re: Donzi 33ZX Speed
Last one we sold ran 73mph on GPS with 3 adults and 1/2 tank of fuel on the Chesapeake.
That was a 496HO boat. I suspect the new one we have will run the same.

Re: Donzi 33ZX Speed
33's are nice roomy boats with good numbers to the power. The 28's are really 26's with a tad bit more snout on them. Pass on the 28 and go 33. You won't be disappointed across the board.

I like the Outlaws, but I would definitely go for the 33ZX. Much heavier boat that will give you a better ride. We have one in the club with HO's in it. I believe his best GPS is about 75. Bryan, correct me if I am wrong.

Re: Donzi 33ZX Speed
Shanghied - have a good friend with a 2004 38ZX with 525's and he's never seen 80 GPS in any conditions (with new Maximus', 5 blade Hydromotives, and 4 blade Mercs). It has the new notch and had XR Sportmasters and then Merc recommended switching to regular XR lowers and still no 80mph. It gets on plane much better but still the speed is not there. Just thought I would share real world from that 38's experience. Maybe some others can get there but Donzi and Merc have tried to max the speed since the boat was delivered and they can't hit 80.
Just thought I'd share that for other folks looking into the 38ZX.

Re: Donzi 33ZX Speed
I own one, 2003, 496 Ho's
Props do turn in. We run 26P Bravo I Merc labs, they will be 27P for next season.
Our best GPS Speedo and Garmin has been 74 and change.
Consistant every DAY 72 TO 73.
Heavy wave crusher, no speed demon.
we are at almost 12,000 pounds (11, 800 no people and no beer!) with a full tank (174 Gal).
IMHO the numbers are good for a mix of luxury and a strong NO BS ride off shore.
Lean and drive the caddy..
I had a 22 and 26, skip the 28, 17" is not worth the money. The 33ZX is a great boat as long as you don't have to be the badest kid speed wise in the mix.
But when others slow for rough water, we don't.
38 ZR Race will be my next boat in 2006 or 2007, once my daughter who dislikes boating goes to college. Trust me.
Donzi 4 Ever. My dealer will again be Jackson Marine in MD.
OR Mark the owner of Shore Line Marina in cental VA.
If the 1998 is NON step, then 65 tops, we have one in the club with built 502 blocks.
So not hear say, fact.
Bryan Tuvell
PS Hey VIPER, this thread is about 33's not 38's....
See ya Saturday.

Re: Donzi 33ZX Speed
another pic of my girl...
Lots can speculate, my info is fact.
As far as neat stuff, 5'10" head room, full head and shower, microwave, big fridge, all shore power options etc.
BEST ONE FOR SALE is Undertakers 2002 for $130K, seen it, been on it, immaculant.
