Here's a picture of a 38 Hustler in Columbus last June. It had a pair of 15K straps on the back and it broke the winch stand. You can see where he ran into the back of a semi.

Re: Ding Bat Award goes to.....
A drunk buddy of mine got "thrown out of the trailer" by his gf. Loaded all his belongings in his Blazer (S10) and hooked his bassboat up and took off. He might have been moderately drunk...
2 lane highway, he came up on a towtruck pulling a Caddy. Late dusk/early night. The towtruck did not have the beacons on, but had his normal lights on. Was supposed to have magnetic lights on the Caddy since the Caddy had a dead battery - but he didn't. End result was that the tow truck was highly visible from the FRONT, but had zero illumination fro behind (the car in tow blocked the taillights).
Anyhow, buddy tagged the Caddy at a high rate of speed.
The Bassboat SHEARED off the winch post on its way into the Blazer. The nose of the boat came in thru the rear window of the truck, and spread the sides of the rear of the truck into an exact fit for the boat (wide beam Stratos). The nose of the boat touched the broken windshield, and the trolling motor bracket snapped off allowing the trolling motor to rip its wires out and javelin into the passenger compartment of the Caddy. My friend's VCR it him in the skull, breaking his head open to the air with his brain uninjured but exposed to the air (not a huge hole, more of a crack 8" long and 3/4" open with brain juice seeping out). All of his milk crates full of stuff smashed up against the seat (pushed by the boat, obviously) and crushed all of his chest and ribs. Sonno***un was airlifted out and lived with no lasting damage. The entire event was pinned on him, and the tow driver did not even get a ticket for the lights. Yes, a DUI situation overrides everything else, but I did think it sucked that the driver didn't even get a reprimand for driving dark.
Somewhere I have some pictures of the boat shoved up to the nads in the Blazer...

Damm thats hurts thinking It could be any of us . Just think if someone pulls out in front of you and you cant stop. makes you want to rethink the strength of the straps if they would even hold it???

That is EXACTLY what I was thinking. Time to recheck the configuration.
I love my boat...but I wouldn't want to get that intimate!
