I dont know how you guys do it. I picked up a boat from st luois and it weighed 10000 and pulled it to Arizona with the same ford and we knew it was back there the whole time. Dont get me wrong it pulled good but we only got 7-9 miles to the gallon . That was it.

The 12,000# load was a 31ft. express cruiser that was on a 44ft trailer. I guess it was balanced well because we ran 80mph the whole way, even through the mountains. My current 10,000# Formula + trailer is hauled behind the 6.0 gas 3/4 suburban. That is a much more noticable load behind that truck. Both trucks get lousy mileage with those loads running those speeds!

[QUOTE=RollWithIt] Currently I am bouncing between a 3/4 ton Ram with the V10 and a 1 ton F350 with the Diesel. Both will tow in the 12k lbs range.

QUOTE]
I just bought an F350. Tow rating is 17,000 ponnds.

I have hauled 12,000 lbs for local trips and it's ok, but 70 on the interstate is it unless you stay in the passing gear. Not sure about a 1/2 ton, but it's probably only a little less. (Huge difference in how much tongue weight it will carry!)

Do you use load bars for 12000#? What rating ball and hitch? I want to be able to tow my boat around town, under30mph safely.
