Reed...LOL!

Fountain38SC....doesn't her CLK55 have a similar monitor system? I think so?

SeanH.....that's what I've been doing.

Yahoo.....We'll see!

Troutly....I'm not gonna spend $20!!! No way! :D

RollWithIt......that is some funny $hit! :)

Ratman....they sure do haul the mail!

epeek....I would imagine that as things wear, the monitoring system senses the changes you mention and would request service earlier

Craig223.....you ARE old school! :) That's over 1 million miles on just those cars you mentioned. With changing oil every 3000 miles, that's nearly 400 oil changes with an average of 5.5 quarts of oil each for a total of 2200 quarts of oil (ten 55 gallon drums). What do you mean they never used any oil? :D

You can pull a sample of the warm oil at any point, send it in, and get the results. This will tell you when you need to change the oil.

Its cheaper to just change the oil

Nort,
We just bought a new E320 Mercedes. It says the oil is Mobi 1 synthetic and to change every 14K or so miles....the car will actually tell you.

If I were you, (especially since you are leasing the vehicle) I would change the oil at the manufacturers suggested oil change and leave it at that. No need to spend extra money for a leased car.

By the way, I've had:
1. A 1973 Pinto that lasted over 250,000 miles (never got rear-ended and blew up :D )
2. A 1971 Chevelle that I ran the absolute dog piss out of for over 100,000 miles
3. A 1981 Malibu that ran for over 350,000 miles until a wiped out camshaft.
4. A 1995 Tahoe that I sold with 195,000 miles and is still running strong now with over 250,000 miles.
5. Currently driving a big block 'Burb.

I don't think it's a coincidence that these cars lasted for so long and never used any oil, but you never know!! :p :D :drink: :drink:

There were other cars, but I either wrecked 'em or sold 'em before their time was due.

Cars that I own and "matter" to me from an investment standpoint get Mobil-1 oil and filters every 3,000 miles. Overkill. Probably.

I am old school with the vehicles I own. Mobil-1 every 3,000 miles.

The cars I lease...what ever the manufacturer says is fine. I just don't want to void the warranty.

Hey Nort, MB plans on that motor being good for only 100k. Thats the idea behind the intervals. All of our ML's(girl and I had 4) did the same and I was told that MB like s it that way.

It's a lease, go along -get along.

Is the oil used these days (Mobil One in this car) and engine performance that good, or since the service is included with the car, they don't want to service it that much and are

But it will teake one HELL of a lugnut strike!
