Maxumus 5 blade / hering
Which of the two props would you say are better and why
? :drink: |
Re: Maxumus 5 blade / hering
I never used either, but I have heard alot of unhappy customers with the service of Herring.

Re: Maxumus 5 blade / hering
I have a 30 pitch maximus and I am very happy. Big gain in bottom and midrange. top end about the same as brovo.

Re: Maxumus 5 blade / hering
How about stability?
And what are you running greg? |
Re: Maxumus 5 blade / hering
These props are very different from each other. The Herings are cleavers and induce stern lift and the Maximus has a round ear blade design inducing bow lift.

Julie, you didn't mention the Hydromotive P5-X. Baja27 you need to call Julie, she knows props. Powerboat mag. even thinks so.

Go 6 blade and stop the madness.

Re: Maxumus 5 blade / hering
So that explains why my boat is faster top end with the cleaver prop vs the lobbed Mirage prop. I just figured it was due to available surface area to bite into the water and to effect rpms.

I have a 33' V with 29 Mirage 3 blades and I'm going to try 4 or 5 blades soon. |
Re: Maxumus 5 blade / hering
I got a 88 Baja 240 sport. Factory 454 mag and running 23 pitch props. Both came with the boat. GPS with the Mirage 3 blade was 58.8 with two people and quarter tank of gas. Never did GPS test with the cleaver. Unknown make on it. But I know it feels faster at speed. Just takes a little longer to jump out of the whole. Something a 4 or 5 blade should help eliminate.
