reality check. 100mph ocean machine-3 yrs warranty-15gallons/hr fuel usage- timeless design. That's cool and "ecomonical" which is a word I have not heard in offshore 100mph classes ever!

Mercury and Spectre has come up with a great alternative for those of us that have a need for speed.!!!

By the way that new 05' 250xs spins 6,300. Imagine that boat dialied in with a fast set of labbed props. Oh yeah!

Wow that is a Nice looking boat!

3mpg at 80mph

What would be the fuel consumption on a pair of 300's at the same speed?

Does the boat have a tunnel tab?

A 250XS is a reg. 300 with less power due to its an OPTI. Whats the emphasis on the "6300" for?
-As a single 2005 300X(6800 rev limit) owner...I do 30GPH @ WOT....15GPH for both 250xs's? I don't think so.

I do not represent Spectre or Mercury.

The 250xs rev limiter was at 5,800 now 6,300. I own a spectre v bottom with 250's that burns 12 gallons/hr. The 250xs opti is a very fuel efficient motor and at cruise speed should burn 7.5/side. I'm suggesting that on a sunday of boating the boat should average 15gal/hr including idling etc. My 30 spectre with 2.5's burns 30gal/hr and I know the merc engineers have the Opti's extremely fuel efficient. I am certain that the factory will do some additional testing with this engine package. Lets wait and see.

That interior is incredible. Great job Spectre. To answer your question about the 300's with gas, I would bet the 250xs are at least 2x more efficient as was stated. But who cares about being efficient if they dont make any HP, I would like to see more out of those motors.

Care to elaborate any on this?? I have been hoping for a new 300 opti (XS) or a 400 Verado. Even though I'd rather have the 300x any day, at least there will be some options for high performance hopefully. I think a 3.0 litre 400horse Verado would fit the bill just fine. Pricing is the only thing that may be ridiculous though.
