05 F250 worth 5K more the 04 F250?

Looking at two identically equipped trucks, one is an 04, the other an 05. I am aware of the new front suspension and slightly upgraded horsepower and torque. Is it worth 5K more for the 05. This will be a work truck. F250 Supercab 4x4 6.0L 8' box.

Both are new trucks.

thanks

Personally... No... I'd actually rather have the '04 anyway.

My company vehicle is a '05 250 with the 5.4 ( I know)...
Now, the situation may be different with the Diesel, but...
This truck now has 5,000 miles on it.
The front end is down right dangerous on the highway... The front tires loose contact over the slightest bridge joint, hole, etc... I have "puckered" on more than one occasion.
I have experimented with different tire pressures as well.
Maybe it is just that the 5.4 is too light for the front springs.....
Drive the truck at 80+ down the highway to test.... Yes I drive fast...
FYI- My personal Chevy with 6,000 miles is MUCH, MUCH more stable.

Drive the two back to back. YOU have to buy what YOU like.

FYI the Ford chassis tows well and stops well. The "Tow" mirrors suck more than the Turbo on the Powerstroke.... (I pull three times per week.)

05 is nice, i have had mine for two weeks now, but not 5k nice for a work truck.... 05's ride and turn better but not for 5k....

tim i think you need a heavier engine if that is happening, mine rides perfect either empty or towing 10k..... i love the ride and mine is PSD.

and looking at your pic, it looks like you have a lot of tongue weight, mine doesn't squat that much with 700lbs on the hitch and 200-400 lbs in the bed.... mine is a crewcab shortbed too....

I'd drive both trucks and make a decision. If the trucks are the optioned the same I'd probably go with the "05 for the back end resale value. What year-end discounts are available on the 2004?

Nope. go for the 04.
As for the only thing you would see a difference is resale... I don't think you will see anything significant to justify the extra $5K down the road after you would beat the tar, to a point, out of both trucks. Beat 'em up even more on the price of the '04. They gotta get rid of that thing, the bank says so.

Tim,
Expense some rear Airbags for that work truck buddy. They go for about $300 installed and you will see a world of difference.

This guy sees the truck as a tool. It will definitely be a little rough when we are done with it. I don't think there would be a $5000 difference in value 5 years down the road between an equal mileage 04 and 05.

Tim, you need to move that boat farther back on the trailer. My twin 30 footer doesn't squat my F250 like that. That is also why the front end is squirrely.

When I priced an 05, it was about $1500 more than the 04. The coil springs in the front alone is worth that. Either he's giving you a helluva deal on the 04, or you need to chew on him more for the 05.

I have heard that mentioned. I guess the plow guys up here figured it out the first big snow. Hopefully it was a bad batch of gears or something. If not, we just bought a $40,000 piece of crap!
