The U-17 and U-19 were great boats, my uncle sold them when they came out and now sells Donzi's. I rode in the U-17 but haven't been in a classic yet, but he tells me that the difference in handling between the two makes is negligible.

I can see where a DP drive would be a handful on those boats. Our 22' is a foot and a half wider and sometimes you have to be careful!

That's the fun of the U boats!

Can anyone comment on how well the windscreen works for the front seat occupants?

jjdiv, if you need any info on the U19 let me know. I have been around these boats since 1995 and know a lot about them. I also owned one for awhile.

The windscreen does help quite a bit to keep the wind out of your face. You still obviously get wind though, mainly on the forehead. LOL

Is the U-19 in this pictures stock? Just wondering if that's how well this boat runs? Anyone know the GPS verified top speed of these boats in stock for with the FI 351 Ford and Dual Prop? Thanks, Ivan

Yep, bone stock with a little prop work. He has the EFI 5.8 and the duoprop and last I knew he was running a consistant 67-68mph with a best of 70.2. Not bad for 275hp!

Wasn't this the boat that ejected Teague and Eric Colby during their evaluation run? That might be where the attitude came from!

The boat never ejected anyone but it was put "on it's side" while turning and the drive being tucked in too far. It was 100% driver error. Four Winns had the limit switches bypassed, probably assuming the test drivers knew how to drive. Four Winns offered the boat with the limit switches intact and they refused.

I have a lot of hours both in the passenger seat and behind the wheel on these boats. The only "quirk" they have is chine walking, especially in flat water, which can easily be corrected with driver input.
