Eyeball flattening launches.
I've talked to several Navy Pilots and the say going from 0 to 150+ in 2 seconds is a thrill you never forget. They also say the worst is night launches. The deck is lit in dim red but at the end of the deck is pitch black with no horizon reference.

One pilot said on one launch he wasn't quite ready and accidently held the brakes. All it did was scrub off 5 knots from his takeoff speed. The catapult dargged the plane and tossed it off the deck. Ready or not, here you go!
