I have a friend that moved to Melbourne last year from Cleveland And is a machinist, I know he has worked in the buisness for a number of years and is trained in tool & die cutting and some cnc work.

Too bad you're way up in the pan-handle.

Is the going rate for machinists that low???
When I left Jersey back in 1987 I was making 13 an hour then. And I was the low man in the shop. Non-union.
I used to run Bridgeports, lathes, honing, CNC mills, and CNC lathes (both MAZAK). Programmed them and set up tooling too.

sounds about par for a machinist, not a tool and die maker though. But you ain't wanting to build dies.
