Asking because I was talking to a recruiter today. They have a Reserve Direct Petty Officer program. I was thinking about doing it. Any input ???

I have a lot of input.

The whole reserve thing really depends on your skill sets and what your expectations are. Do not let anyone fool you about reserve and regular integration within the Coast Guard because with few exceptions it does not work well. This doesn't mean you cant get out of it what you want but all to often the reserves are left out.

Reserve's on extended active duty contracts do really well because they are with the regulars everyday and often become fully intregated.

Okay,I could go on and on and on and I still miss what you really need to know. Call me anytime I would be glad to answer what I can and also put you in touch with some reserves so you can get their first hand perspective.
