Re: Who does their own taxes?

I have done my own for years. I used to use turbo tax but switched to tax cut when TT started the spy-ware BS. All tax software offers electronic filing for about $20 I think, some versions include the electronic filing fee. HR and Hewitt offer those immediate loans that they call rapid refund. They are a ripoff if you calculate the interest.

I e file with TT. Small fee. Refund in about 10 days or less.

Re: Who does their own taxes?

Thanks Racegirl3! I saw a sale they had at Staples tonight. Something like $69.95 for the "Deluxe" version, $29.95 for the "State" version and then the thing I hate the most...$20.00 Rebate on the "Deluxe" and a $29.95 rebate for the "State" and the "e-file" is free too.

Why can't they just deduct the damn rebate from the price? I hate all the BS paperwork that goes with the rebates! Then, if your're lucky, maybe they will send you your rebate (weeks or months later)! Can you imagine if you had to go thru this kind of crap to get a rebate from a new car dealer!

I have always used TT, I bought again this year, what is the spyware BS you guys are talking about. Should I take it back and get tax cut? I have not broken the seal yet on the TT.

Here are two articles. The Wall Street Journal also carried the story. I do not mind a software supplier limiting the use of their software to who has paid for it, but they better find a way that doesn't affect the computer I own or the other programs I have paid for.
