Tinkerer,
I forgot to mention.. PEOPLE.. Steve is the BEST, I repeat, the BEST Boiler man in West Mich..
Thanks to him I was able to put together a radiant heating system that I just Love. I would rather be in the shop than the house.. IF anyone needs heating repair, get in touch with Tinkerer.. he is the best, and a straight up guy to work with!!

Thank You Steve.. for all of your help and guidance on this.. I owe you!!

Table,
Thank you for the compliment.. the floor is covered with Epoxy primer and Urathane top coats, one color and then a clear. It didnt come out perfect, but it is easy to clean up and looks like it is wet all the time.

Thanks
Dick

Tinkerer, Do you sell boilers? I am looking to replace one and would like to give the business to a fellow OSO'er. Looking for a high efficiency direct vent boiler that will work in a 3600sq ft house. Currently has 175,000btu input, 3 zones and 152 ft of baseboard.

Fred,
I have moved to the shop in Rockford, cut my drive in half every day. Now 50miles from work instead of 102. I have been there since Oct.. Working out real well. We never did get to do lunch. I always did breakfast at Waverly or Snappers.. so I was skipping lunch.. I guess it will have to be beers on the beach someday..

Rob,
The floor does get slippery when it is wet. I keep a towel around to wipe my feet dry and it hasnt been a problem. If there is a puddle on the floor, well hang on you may go down. I may take a scratch pad to it to take the shine off someday, but for now.. I like it..

Thanks for the compliments.. it has been lot of work. I did most of it myself and help from friends.

LEE -

SORRY - I have been very busy and havn't spent much time on here.
I do sell and install boilers but you are out of my service area.

You say that you have a 175,000 BTU boiler now.
152 ft of baseboard at 600 BTU's per ft = 91,000 BTU's
152 ft of baseboard at 700 BTU's per ft = 106,000 BTU's

If your house heats fine on the coldest days you should be able to heat it with a 125,000 BTU 84 % eff.

If you really want to save $ get a Munchkin boiler.
It will require a yearly check up and cleaning of the heat exchanger but some people have cut their heating bills in half with this boiler. 140,000 at 92 % eff at 180*
96% eff at 120*
full modulating boiler.

Rob, go to www.ucoatit.com I used their epoxy and clear on my shop floor, the stuff is tough as nails, I also made it look like granite with specs and you can through aluminum oxide out while its tacky for traction, leaves a great floor to work on...Rob
