Re: Cary 50

I'm so glad I read these posts. I have a 50 and am in the process of replacing two of the 502 tall decks with stock 502's and all four of the TRS drives with Pulse Drive surface type dri ves. Regarding speed I'm told that brand new they all ran at 60+ MPH. Fuel bill has been painfull I have 4 flowscans that I'm going to dial in.

rvest, do you have pics? I have a Cary 50 with Yanmar 420's and CAL 500 drives. What year is yours?

to rbhudleson;

I visited your boat last summer on Lake Travis. Very nice.

Is this new project the one you told me about considering last summer. Yes, get it. Remember that it is a sign of sanity to have two of everything so that if one is lost, you have a spare.

Clay- Here's a pic of my Cary it's a 87 with 4 502's. I'm changing the drives to pulse drives a trimable surface drive. It's a project but what isn't with this boat. I saw the flat screen you put in it looks great I may do the same.

Re: Cary 50

I have a 50 Cary with 4 502's and surface drives. I'm fitting it for props but don't know the wieght of the vessal. I've seen weight listings from 28-35K of which I'm not sure if they are wet or dry weights. The scale on the sling st the yard is broken so I can't get it from there. Has anyone weighed this boat who could tell me their weight wet or dry? Thanks for the help. We calculated 35K wet with 4 blade 20x26's but I think the true weight is less. Any help appreciated.

RVEST,
We had the boat transported from CA Full of fuel (800 gal) and it weighed 46,200lbs. You would most likely want to adjust for engine differences. In addition the drives we have weigh more than the ones on your boat.

To rbhudleson:

No rain, water still low.
So, what boat are you thinking of getting? A different Cary 50?
Is this one in better shape?

You really need a back up boat just incase something happens to the first one. Besides, the projects are fun.

Good luck.
Jim
