What Happened to GM's 525 HP 496 Vortec Marine Engine?
In 2003, GM sent out press releases on their Vortec 8100 (496 cu. in.) Marine engine with 525 horsepower. It was dubbed the "HP3". It's now 2005, and it is still nowhere to be found on their website. It seems Mercruiser didn't wait around, and is using the good 'ol 502 for their 525. Anyone know what happened to the 496 HP3?

I'm pretty sure that Dhlaw just put a pair in his race boat. Maybe he will chime in here.
